Kookaburra Queen for auction

Maritime history up for auction at boat show.

For over thirty-five years, Brisbane's winding river has been themed with the charm of the Kookaburra Queen quietly roaming the city reaches. Locally built, the replica paddle wheel propelled restaurant and function venue entertained diners and tourists day and night . In their day, Kookaburra Queen I and II were the height of river restaurant luxury.

Commissioned just in time for the Expo '88 World's Fair at Southbank next to the Brisbane river, the twin vessels will be auctioned on Sunday, 7th October at the Brisbane Rivergate International Boatshow 2012. Current owners intend to lease back the vessels and continue hosting tourists and locals in Brisbane.

The Brisbane Rivergate International Boatshow will display boats from local and internation manufacturers, offer boating accessory displays and stage fashion and social events. The event will run from 8am to 6pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday - 5th, 6th and 7th October 2012
